Christmas is just around the corner … handy hints to be prepared

By October 29, 2019 No Comments

With the Festive season fast approaching, we would like to share some valuable tips to ensure you are prepared for the increased volume of freight that will be moving domestically and internationally.

Dispatch with plenty of time to spare

Ensure your freight is delivered in a timely manner, by being prepared.

Send urgent freight on a priority service

Remember ETAs are estimations only. For important consignments, we recommend sending on a priority service and allowing extra transit time during this busy period, to avoid disappointment.

Cover all bases

Make sure to get the manifest signed by the driver when they collect the freight, this is your evidence of collection if an issue does arise.

Ensure freight is ‘travel ready’

Inaccurately labelled freight and lack of contact details is one of the main causes of delayed and lost freight. Double check that receiver details are correct prior to dispatching. Ensure your freight is clearly and securely labelled, so it won’t come off during transit. For palletised freight, ensure there is a label on both sides of the pallet.

Operating Hours

During the Christmas period most carriers run on a skeleton crew. No freight travels over weekends or public holidays. Some carriers even close operations completely. This means that enquiries will take longer to action and freight movements will generally take longer.

KIS Customer Care and Accounts team will be here to support you throughout this time, with the exception of public holidays.

On behalf of the KIS team, we wish you and yours a Merry Christmas and a happy new year.
